Swine Flu Information
Loudoun County has been actively planning for a possible influenza pandemic for the past four years. Dr. David Goodfriend, Director of the Loudoun County Department of Health, reports that we are actively undertaking the steps according to the World Health Organization's Phase 3 for a possible pandemic. Key steps at this phase include increased communication and coordination with our county, regional, state and national partners, improved disease surveillance, and increased preparation should cases of swine flu appear in our area. Additionally, we are in close contact with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
A copy of the Loudoun County plan, along with information on the swine flu outbreak, is available online at loudoun.gov/flu. In addition, latest information on confirmed cases of swine flu in the U. S. as well as guidelines for keeping yourself healthy can be found at CDC/swine flu. Guidelines for preventing the flu can be found at CDC's Preventing the Flu.
